Process
OrganizationECIA holds accreditation rights through ANSI, the American National Standards Institute, under the mark "EIA". Any standards committee choosing to develop an American National Standard may process the work through the ECIA accreditation. The ECIA Standards and Technology department ensures that any standards-setting activities currently underway or planned meet due process and procedural guidelines as laid out in the ECIA Manual of Organization and Procedure (EIA EP-20) and the ECIA Legal Guides. Most Sector Association standards are fed through this department for final publishing and distribution via our publications distributor, IHS, Inc.
The EIA Standards and Technology Department oversees the ECIA's presence in the global standards-setting arena by managing a number of Technical Committee and Subcommittee Secretariats and US Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) sponsored by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the Joint Technical Committee on Information Technology (JTC1) that is a combined effort of the IEC and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
