Association Service Awards

Gail S. Carter Award

The Association bestowed its highest honor, the Gail S. Carter Award, to Frank Flynn of Sager Electronics. The award acknowledges an electronics industry leader for their significant contributions to the industry and their active role in the association and civic affairs.

ECIA Chairman John Denslinger of Murata Electronics presented the award and acknowledged Mr. Flynn’s significant contributions to the association. Flynn was instrumental in bringing ECA & NEDA together as ECIA.  He was an active NEDA and NEDA Education Foundation Board member from 2000 through 2010, where he held every leadership position. He serves on the EDS Board and on the ECIA Board.  He is a committed champion of the industry and strives to keep the association at the forefront of the authorized electronic components industry. “Frank is committed to making a difference in the electronic component business”, said Denslinger. “Service to the industry is a high priority.” 
 
Distinguished Service Awards

The Association also honored four industry executives with the Distringuished Service Award for their significant contributions to the association.  Nominated by the ECIA Board of Directors, these individuals were chosen because of their devotion of time and skill to advance the association and the industry. 

ECIA Chairman John Denslinger, Murata Electronics, announced the awards which honored Laird Macomber, Technology Manager at Cornell Dubilier; Max Peel, founder of Contech Research; John Prymac, Director of Advanced Applications in the Advanced Technology Group at KEMET Electronics Corp.; and Glenn Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mouser Electronics. “Each of these dedicated individuals gave generously of their time to the association,” said Denslinger. “Their involvement in ECIA makes certain that it remains a first-class association that continues to advance the industry.” 

Electronics Choice Industry Awards - the ECIA's


The winners of the inaugural Electronics Choice Industry Awards for marketing excellence were announced at the 2011 ECIA Executive Conference in Chicago on October 24th. The award program,  co-sponsored by UBM Electronics and the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA),  honored ECIA member companies for outstanding marketing efforts during 2010- 2011.

The contest provided ECIA members a chance to compete and spotlight their marketing materials in 11 different categories which included an integrated mix of print advertising, digital communication and web applications.  The competition generated over 120 entries. Winners for their outstanding marketing efforts were Arrow Electronics, Avnet Electronics Marketing, Mouser Electronics, Newark/element 14; and TTI, Inc. The Best of Show award – given for the entry that garnered the highest points in the competition - was earned by Arrow Electronics.

The entries were reviewed by the judging panel of David Blaza, VP, UBM Electronics; Bob Dumas, Publisher, UBM Electronics; Karen Field, SVP, Content, UBM Electronics; Brian Fuller, Editorial Director, EE Times’ EE Life community, UBM Electronics; Robin B. Gray, Jr., Electronic Components Industry Association; Barbara Jorgensen,  EBN; and Kirby Strickland, Phase Two Consulting/Creative/Media Management.
